Abstract:
Ten strawberry cultivars currently cultivated or selected in Southern Spain were evaluated for aroma quality.
Cvs Tudla and Oso Grande showed the highest levels of aroma volatiles, more than 2300 μg/g FW/1,7 L headspace; cvs Sunset, Cartuno, Laguna and Camarosa range between 1500–1000 μg/g FW/1,7 L headspace; cvs Cartcua, Seascape, Carlsbad and Cuesta less than 1000 μg/g FW/1,7 L headspace.
The aroma values of methyl butanoate, ethyl butanoate, butyl acetate, methyl hexanoate, ethyl hexanoate, hexanal, 2-hexenal, hexyl acetate, hexanol and furaneol were estimated in each cultivar.
