Abstract:
A wide variety of materials from corbicular pollen loads of the honey bee have been recorded in the literature.
Microscopic examination of loads collected from Apis mellifera in the field, and from pollen traps at the hive, has revealed additional constituents: whole, individual petals and stamens of Brassica sp. (probably canola); strands closely resembling cellulosic, non-lignified threads from Echium plantagineum that spanned the stomium at anther dehiscence; and immature and adult Thysanoptera.
