Authors:   A.M. Hussein, F.I. El-Adgham, M.B. El-Migid, A.A. Omar
Keywords:   chilling injury, pitting, wrapping, shelf-life
Abstract:
Bean (Helda and Serbo varieties) were tested at chilling and non-chilling inducing temperatures and 85% R.H. Packaging in non-performated polyethylene bags and unwrapping were used. Incidence and development of chilling injury symptoms and related problems were assessed during cold-storage and at high temperature (10°C). Water loss and shelf-life were evaluated. Number of days elapsed before pitting ranged from 9 to 13 days throughout a storage period of 9–16 days for Helda and 8–15 days for Serbo varieties, respectively.
