Authors:   A.M. Hussein, F.I. El-Adgham, M.B. El-Migid, A.A. Omar
Keywords:   chilling injury, pitting, wrapping, shelf-life
Abstract:
Cucumber (Biet Alpha, 18 and Rawa varieties) and pepper (variety 555) were tested at chilling and non-chilling inducing temperature +85% R.H. Packaging in non-perforated polyethylene bags over wrapped and unwrapping were used. Incidence and development of chilling injury symptoms and related problems were assessed during cold storage and post-storage simulated retail marketing. Water loss and related physical and physiological disorders were evaluated.

Number of days elapsed before pitting appearance ranged from 7 to 9 days throughout a storage period of 11–16 days according to cucumber cultivars and 10–21 days for peppers
