Abstract:
In a clay loam soil, under semiarid climate in the Lara State in Venezuela, it was evaluated the efficiency of phosphogypsum (CaSO4-x-2H2O) in increasing the percentage of germination, the prevention of crusting, the improvement of infiltration and the quality of the plantules in onion seedbeds (Allium cepa) irrigated with waters of electrical conductivity of 0,65 dS/m in average.
The experiment was conducted in a randomized block design with three treatments of phosphogypsum (2, 4 and 6 Mg/ha) and its respective controls with five replications.
To the final of the study, it was observed a favorable effect in the treatments whith phosphogypsum on the following variables: percentage of germination, prevention of crusting, hydraulic conductivity, infiltration, water consumption, weight of the root and the aerial parts of the plantules with respect to the control.
