Abstract:
Nerine sarniensis bulbs were multiplied successfully by means of cross-cutting technique.
When the lower half part of the mother bulb was divided into 6 equal parts by cutting across the base of the bulb in late May, and then cured at 20 or 25°C for 2 weeks they showed 100% bulblet formation and produced more and larger bulblets after incubation in rice-chaff charcoal medium for 6 months.
The bulblet formation rate done in late October was similar to that in late May.
The number or size of bulblets produced depended on the weight of mother bulbs.
