Abstract:
Narcissus is propagated in vitro using twin-scales: two bulb scale segments (1 cm wide and 1.5–2 cm high) joined by a part of the basal plate.
Bulblets or shoots regenerated on these explants are used for further propagation.
In the final phase bulb formation is induced.
In Narcissus, micropropagation is hampered by two problems: the propagation rate of shoot clumps decreases with every cycle and bulblets do not grow rapidly after transfer to soil.
