Abstract:
Zephyra is a cormous geophyte belonging to the family Tecophilaceae.
It has excellent ornamental plant potential with its tidy plant form, beautiful flowers, attractive scent and long vase life.
The effects of irrigation time on emergence and flowering were investigated.
Corms were planted on 24 May and irrigated at 4 week intervals between 24 May and 6 December.
Plants from all treatments sprouted between early November and the end of December and all flowered between the middle of February and the middle of March.
Emergence percent was low (0 – 25%) in the first season but high in the subsequent season (68 – 83%).
