GREENHOUSE COMPARISON TESTS OF DIFFERENT VARIETIES OF ROSES

Authors:   M. Milia, S. Leoni
Abstract:
Thirteen cultivars of roses grafted onto Rosa indica major were tested. The highest number of floral stems was obtained from the cultivars Grand'Mère Jenny, Champs Elysées and Carina with 77,4 – 66,9 – 62,19 flowers/m2 respectively.

The lowest yield was given by the cultivars Pharaon and Rouge Meilland with 31,0 and 31,6 flowers/m2 respectively.

The best qualitative results were obtained with the cultivars Allegro - Baccara - Super Star, which gave 81%, 77,5% and 75,7% of flowers with stems longer than 60 cm.

The most satisfying overall results were obtained with Super Star, Allegro, Baccara and Carina.
