QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS FOR HORTICULTURAL FIRMS-CHANCES AND LIMITS

Author:   I. Uetrecht
Keywords:   Pot plants, Exterior quality, Interior quality, Quality-influencing factors, Quality-describing characteristics
Abstract:
In horticulture, quality management according to ISO 9000–9004 has been introduced only reluctantly due to a very controversial discussion. In this contribution it is examined whether quality management systems enable producers of pot plants to improve biological processes with a sustainable effect. For this biological, technical, and economic data were collected by monitoring the production in selected German horticulture enterprises, and analyzed with total quality management in mind. The effects of important quality-influencing factors are shown in a model.
