Abstract:
Results of a consumer survey conducted at 18 garden centers in North Carolina indicate that customers were most likely to only buy plants and least likely to buy a combination of plants and tools during their shopping trip.
Empirical estimates from cross sectional data collected in this study were used to derive the market level demand elasticity for nursery plants.
The own price elasticity was found to be inelastic (-0.203). This implies revenue from ornamental plants increases from increases in the aggregate price of ornamentals.
