| Abstract:
Four grapevine varieties (Garnacha, Tempranillo, Chardonnay and Airén) growing one vegetative shoot were cultivated in weighing lysimeters with no evaporation. Water was not restricted. Periodical and seasonal water consumption, final leaf area, leaf characteristics, dry matter partitioning and water use efficiency were determined. Water consumption was different among the varieties. Laterals highly contributed to total leaf area and total shoot dry matter. Dry matter accumulated in roots was high although plants were grown in lysimeters. Under no water restriction water use efficiency of the varieties was similar. Meridional grapevines (Garnacha, Tempranillo and Airén) presented high water consumption and high production of biomass with a high portion of roots. | |
