Abstract:
The influence by grapevine leafroll-associated closteroviruses (GLRaV-1 and -3) and grapevine virus A (GVA) on the agronomic, physiological and enological characteristics of infected clones of cv Nebbiolo compared to the same clones after heat-treatment was studied over a period of four years.
Sanitation induced an increase of vegetative vigour whereas the increase of yield was not so evident and depended on the clones.
In terms of grape quality, soluble solids and berry skin phenolic compounds were greatly increased.
The evaluation of leaf stomatal conductance and photosynthetic trend confirmed the better aptitude of virus-free vines.
