ISHS Acta Horticulturae 427: Strategies to Optimize Wine Grape Quality

TRANSPIRATION RATE OF IN VITRO CULTIVATED VINE PLANTS DEPENDING ON THE CULTURE MEDIUM COMPONENTS

Authors:   V. Dimitrova, S. Pandeliev
Keywords:   Vitis vinifera L., rootstock, explant, nutrients
Abstract:
The investigation has been carried out with cvs Pamid, Bolgar, Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rootstocks Rupestris du Lot and SO4 /Berlandieri x Riparia, Openheim selection/. The explants were cultivated on culture medium MS (1962) with changing levels of macro- and microelements and indol-3-acetic acid /IAA/ in 14 variants. The obtained results showed that the transpiration rate of in vitro cultivated plants increased with the reduction of the culture medium components (macro- and microelements and IAA amounts). Differences were not observed among the tested cultivars and rootstocks. Low transpiration rates were found with all tested variants under the experimental conditions.
