RESPONSE OF GROWTH AND ESSENTIAL OIL CONTENT OF SWEET BASIL (OCIMUM BASILICUM L.) TO SOME NATURAL HORMONES.

Abstract:
Gibberelic acid (GA3), Indole 3-acetic acid (IAA), and Kinetin were sprayed separately 3 times-among the growing season of basil plants.

Concentrations of 0 and 50 ppm form each hormone were used to evaluate efficiency and identify the optimum hormone.

GA application stimulated the growth characters (e.g. plant height, No. of leaves, leaf area, fresh and dry weight, etc.) more than that of the other hormones and control.

IAA and kinetin remarkably decreased basil growth and produced relatively little yield from herb weights.

GA treatment acts -in revise- to decrease oil content, while IAA and kinetin promoted it.
