ISHS Acta Horticulturae 426: International Symposium on Medicinal and Aromatic Plants

ON THE POSSIBILITIES OF ACCELERATED PROPAGATION OF NEW MENTHA SPICATA (L.) HUDSON CULTIVARS

Authors:   Y. Kr. Yankuloff, V. Zheljazkov, T. D. Stoeva
Keywords:   Mentha spicata, spearmint, essential oil, carvone, linalool, propagation
Abstract:
The propagating ability of new Mentha spicata cultivars was studied for the purpose of enhancing the propagation coefficient (PC) and for accelerating propagation. Root cuttings with two buds planted at a distance of 30 cm resulted in highest percentage of surviving buds - 31.29% for cv. Nana and 48.15 % for cv. Mechta with PC 1:512.7 and 1:419.1 respectively.
