| Abstract:
Many strategies have been designed to engineer virus resistance in transgenic plants. This paper reviews the results obtained using pathogen-derived resistance (PDR) as well as other approaches. Our current understanding of the protection mechanisms and the biosafety issues associated with the large scale use of virus-resistant plants are also discussed. | |
