Abstract:
The general objective of this project is to study the impact of pre-harvest growth conditions (supplementary lighting: high pressure sodium (HPS), metal halide (MH); fertilization) on the yield and quality of greenhouse roses.
Results pertaining to harvest period of January 1 to April 29, 1993 and cultivars 'After Glow' and 'Royalty' show that yield and quality index were significantly affected by supplemental light treatments and fertilization.
Supplemental light treatments (HPS: 110%, MH: 68%) generated greater yields than ambient light conditions regardless of cultivars.
