Abstract:
In the past ten years, we had to face practical problems which represented important obstacles in rose improvement, such as : low sexual reproduction results (seriously reducing the impact of traditional hybridization programs), poor post-harvest abilities, restricted use of somaclonal variation, inter-varietal and -specific crossing impossibilities.
Thanks to integrated research programs, we made some decisive progress on these different aspects.
We now have to face new challenges, such as, for instance, efficiently increase the fragrant character in cut flower varieties, or rapidly improve the disease resistance ….
