ISHS Acta Horticulturae 420: Ornamental Plant Improvement: Classical and Molecular

REGENERATION FROM LEAF DISKS OF CHRYSANTHEMUM MORIFOLIUM RAMAT.

Authors:   T.Yu. Mityushkina, S.V. Dolgov
Abstract:
Adventitious shoots were regenerated from leaf explants of 32 chrysanthemum cultivars out of 40 those under study. The optimal medium was MS. Most cultivars showed the best results after addition of 2,0 mg/l BAP and 0,5 mg/l NAA. However, certain brightly colored cultivars required other hormone ratios. Bornholm and Snowdon Yellow regenerated most easily. Westland Rose gave the greatest number of shoots formed per disk - 8.4. Leaf disks from the rooted plants showed a higher regeneration percentage. Different sensitivities of the cultivars under study to selective antibiotics Km and Hyg were shown.
