PISTACHIO TRIAL UNDER DIFFERENT VOLUMES OF IRRIGATION IN ITALY

Authors:   F. Monastra, D. Avanzato, S. Martelli, R. Dascanio
Abstract:
In an experimental trial in Southern Italy since 1987, a Larnaka pistachio orchard grafted to Pistacia integerrima was submitted to 4 different rates of irrigation calculated evapotranspiration levels of 0, 25, 50 and 75 % of ETc analysis of the data showed that trunk development is strictly correlated to irrigation volume. The trial receiving 75 % of evaporated water the trunk grew more than the unirrigated plants. Watering effects appear early in the ripening and increase the number of inflorescences per tree but the number of fruit per inflorescence is negatively influenced by high volume irrigation.
