Abstract:
Gas exchange rates after 17 days of light treatment were investigated using a high pressure sodium (SON-T) and a mercury metal halide (HQI-T) lamp.
Short-time variation in light quality induces higher net photosynthesis rates with SON-T compared to HQI-T at each developmental stage.
No difference in transpiration rates was observed in plants cultivated in greenhouses or in growth chambers.
Plants cultivated continuously with HQI-T or SON-T reacted differently.
At the same developmental stage HQI-T treated plants showed higher photosynthetic rates compared to plants from SON-T growth chamber.
