| Abstract:
Virus diseases cause serious economic damages in many bulb crops which are propagated vegetatively. This study was conducted to obtain the basic information about virus infection in Liliun cultivars in Kwangju and Cheju area. About 95.6% of plants in cultivated cultivars in Kwangju and Cheju areas and 83.3% of plants in imported cultivars expressed virus-like symptoms. In cultivars 'Georgia', 'Hinomoto', 'Enchantment', 'Connecticut King' and 'Stargazer', rates of infection were 95.6%, 98.2%, 98.1%, 11.8% and 64%, respectively. Symptoms caused by virus among lilies were almost all white streaking mosaic, mild mosaic in 'Georgia'. Vein chlorosis, vein chlorosis plus malformation which were not observed in 'Georgia' was observed in imported 'Enchantment', 'Hinomoto'. Lily plants showing symptoms of infection were indexed by tissue blotting and dot-blot immunobinding assay. The test results revealed that lilies were always infected by lily symptomless virus, cucumber mosaic virus, or tulip breaking virus. | |
