Abstract:
Lilium formosanum, endemic to Taiwan, was collected in nature at Cheju Island in Korea.
The morphological and cytological characteristics of this unreported species in Korea are described.
The somatic chromosome number is 2n=24, which consists of two pairs of large meta- or submetacentric and ten pairs of subtelocentric chromosomes, as seen commonly in the genus.
The chromosomes bearing secondary constrictions are c, d and g.
Their positions are near the centromere of the short arm in chromosomes d and g, and at the distal region of chromosome c.
