Abstract:
Solanum melongena cv.
Bonica plants were cultivated in greenhouse conditions and treatment with fertilizer with different N, P, K levels, complemented with other nutrients.
The plants were grown in plots containing soil.
The plants were sampled throughout the biological cycle and fruits were collected on six occasions.
The skin and pulp-the two most important fuit tissues-were separated and both underwent classifying analysis to determine the non-structural carbohydrates content.
The results obtaned show that the skin cantains about 70% fewer non-structural carbohydrates, whereas the pulp, affected by osmoregulation, factors and influenced by the affect of N, P and K in the rhizosphere, shows much greater carbohydrate concentrations.
K is the nutrient which has the greater effect, especially on starch and sucrosse levels.
