ISHS Acta Horticulturae 411: VII International Workshop on Fire Blight

STUDIES ON EFFECTIVENESS OF SOME CHEMICALS TO FIRE BLIGHT PATHOGEN ERWINIA AMYLOVORA (BURRILL) WINSLOW ET AL.

Authors:   H. Saygili, N. Üstün
Abstract:
Effectiveness of several chemicals to Erwinia amylovora was investigated in vitro and on pear fruitlets cv. Williams.

The best activity was obtained in vitro with streptomycin (streptomycin sulfate) and it was followed by Tri-Miltox (copper salts+mancozeb), Kasumin (kasugamycin) and Herkül (copper oxychloride+maneb). Copper sulfate among the copper compounds showed the lowest activity. Aliette (fosetyl-Al) was found completely ineffective.

In pear fruitlet tests, the highest doses of streptomycin, Kasumin, Tri-Miltox and Herkül were the most effective. Champion (copper hydroxide) was also found to be more active than Mavi Bakir (copper oxychloride), however copper sulfate showed lower activity than the other copper compounds. In addition Aliette, being ineffective in vitro, showed low activity in pear fruitlets.
