A STUDY OF SOME FRUIT SKIN CHARACTERISTICS IN RELATION TO THE SUSCEPTIBILITY OF CHERRY FRUIT TO CRACKING
|
| Authors: | K. Belmans, J. Keulemans |
Abstract:
From 1989 to 1991 the thickness of the cuticle, the number of stomata and the nitrogen concentration in the fruit skin were examined in relation to the rate and quantity of water absorption of cherry fruits in distilled water.
The results differed from one year to another.
Nevertheless, the measured characteristics probably explain part of the variability in cracking susceptibility of sweet cherry cultivars.
