Abstract:
A correlation was found between yield and nectary epidermal structure in sweet cherry cultivars, indicating their ecological type.
Hygromorphic types of cherries grown in a dry environment usually have low yield.
Based on epidermal structure, the extent of fruit drop in dry weather can be predicted.
Based on the size of glandular tissue, insect attraction and probable apiarian significance of the variety can be prognosticated.
