Abstract:
The breeding and selection program for cherry rootstocks undertaken at the Station de Recherches Fruitières (France), has adopted an original approach in recent years.
For historical reasons our research has been carried out on Prunus mahaleb. Technical and economic constraints linked to modern cultural practices of cherry have led us to re-orient our research towards dwarfing rootstocks and a short juvenile period.
