Abstract:
In the spring of 1986, a 1.7 ha cherry plantation was started on Siklós Co-operative Farm in co-operation with the University of Horticulture and Food Industry.
The plantation is located in an area with a long, warm growing season which fosters early fruit production.
The objective of the project was to determine if growing high quality sweet cherries for the early market was profitable.
After several years, we have found that sweet cherries of high quality can be successfully harvested in mid- to late May with high net profit.
