ISHS Acta Horticulturae 410: II International Cherry Symposium

ADVANTAGES AND PROBLEMS OF SOME SELECTED CHERRY ROOTSTOCKS IN DRESDEN-PILLNITZ

Author:   B. Wolfram
Abstract:
Small tree crowns and reduced tree stature are important criteria in modern cherry orchards. Many investigations on vigour-reducing rootstocks for cherries have been undertaken over the last 25 years. Promising results have been obtained with many rootstocks; for example Colt, clones from Giessen, Weiroot clones, MAXMA clones and the Gembloux series. This paper describes additional breeding and selection work on cherry rootstocks conducted at Müncheberg and Dresden-Pillnitz since 1965.
