ISHS Acta Horticulturae 41: Symposium on Postharvest Physiology of Cut Flowers

CONDITIONS FOR MEASURING VASE LIFE OF CUT FLOWERS

Author:   W. Sytsema
Abstract:
Factors important in connection with the measurement of vase life of cut flowers are discussed, viz.: conditioning of the flowers, temperature, relative humidity, light, air circulation and air change and ethylene. This leads to the choice of the next conditions for this measurement: 20°C, 60% RH, daylight in winter supplemented with fluorescent light, both of low intensity, low air circulation speed and continuous air replenishment.
