ISHS Acta Horticulturae 409: IV International Symposium on Growing Temperate Zone Fruits in the Tropics and in the Subtropics

EFFECT OF ROOTSTOCKS MM.III, MM. 106 AND EM.IX ON TREE GROWTH OF ANNA APPLE

Authors:   M. M. Fouad, Samira M. Mohamed, M. A. Khalil, Atef M. Hussein
Abstract:
Tree height, spread and canopy as well as scion circumference gave the highest values on MM.III followed by MM.106 and were the least on EM. IX. Similarly, shoot length, diameter and number of node per shoot and leaf area were the highest on MM.11 and the least on EM.IX. On the other hand, the ratio of scion: rootstock showed that rootstock circumference of all studied rootstocks was higher than scion circumference. The percentage of vegetative buds on one year old wood was relatively lower on MM.III than on MM.106 or EM IX, while floral bud percentages showed a reverse trend. Percentage of vegetative buds on spurs was higher on MM.III than on EM IX or MM 106, while floral bud percentage did not indicate obvious differences in respect to rootstocks.
