IDENTIFICATION OF SOME STONE FRUIT STOCKS BY PREVAILING PHENOLIC COMPOUNDS IN VARIOUS PARTS OF THE PLANT

Authors:   M. A. Khalil, I. Sobhy, M. Khattab, G. Stino
Abstract:
Various phenols were separated and identified as possible by GLC technique. Different compounds in various stocks are presented in variable concentrations. Gentistic acid mostly found in the roots of sweet almond and Nemaguard. Flavonic acid in Bitter almond roots and Salicylic acid in those of Okinawa, Flordaguard, Florda 9/3, Local apricot and Myro B. Salicylic acid is also dominant similarly in both sweet and Bitter Almond and Florda 9/3. Another stock shows unidentified phenols which were separated at R.M, (9.9). Leaves of Bitter almond and Nemaguard contain Arbutin as a major phenol, Genetic acid is dominant in sweet almond, Okinawa, Flordaguard, Local apricot and Myro B. However, Salicylic acid is found in Florda 4/3.
