THE EFFECT OF VARIOUS ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS ON YIELD OF GREENHOUSE GERBERA PLANTS.

Abstract:
Mean daily production data from four greenhouse gerbera varieties growing in perlite. sand, zeolite and rockwool substrates were correlated with net radiation, mean diurnal air temperature, day-night air temperature difference, and mean daily saturated vapor pressure deficit.

The response of total and partial (per variety) daily yield was described twice as a linear function of the three (from the above four referred) climatic variables omitting in each case one from the two temperature variables.

Significant correlations between crop production and all these climatic variables were found. Decreased net radiation values during the last part of December and the first part of January seem to affect negatively crop production.

Multiple linear regression also showed significant correlations between total and partial crop yield and the environmental variables. Chimena and Party respectively presented the highest and lowest multiple correlation with these variables.
