Abstract:
Cima di rapa is becoming an important vegetable in south Italy where is sold on local market nearly all year round.
An experiment was conducted to evaluate the effects of 4 sowing dates (September 25, October 21, December 4 and January 19) on yield and time of harvest of 4 cultivars: Quarantina (QR) Sessantina (SS), di Gennaio (DG) and di Febbraio-Marzo (FM).
Yield generally decreased with retarding sowing dates.
Sixty-nine and 107 days of delay in sowing dates reduced by 57 and 96% the marketable yield. 'FM' and QR were respectively the most and less productive.
With sowing dates planned in this experiment the yield was scarce in December and abundant in March.
