Abstract:
With peculiar flower form, abundant flower colour and strong adaptability, irises were widely cultured in the word.
In the history of iris breeding, sexual hybridization was largely applied and many cultivars were gained.
There were a few mutation breeding and cultivars reported.
Somaclonal variation has not been applied in iris breeding yet.
This paper applied biotechnology and nuclear technology in a preliminary study on iris somaclonal variation in order to find a new way for iris breeding.
