A SURVEY OF STUDY AND UTILIZATION OF WILD FRUITS IN YUNNAN PROVINCE

Abstract:
This paper reports some results of investigation study of wild fruits in Yunnan Province during 1990–1992.

Preliminary investigations indicate that there are 600 species and varieties belonging to 43 families and 79 genera in Yunnan. The fruits of some of these wild fruit trees are very good for eating fresh while some of others are used for processing. Some of them may be used as rootstocks. Parental plants of fruit breeding, ornamental, and medicines.

Yunnan Province is situated in 21°9' to 29° 15' N. 97°39' to 106° 12' E, and at the elevation range from 76.4 to 6 740 m. The wild fruits have wide distributions over the tropical, subtropical, and temperate regions in Yunnan Province. The germplasm resources of the wild fruits of Yunnan Province are the most rich in China.
