INVESTIGATIONS AND STUDY OF FRUIT GERMPLASM RESOURCE IN SHANXI PROVINCE |

| Abstract:
The fruit germplasm resources (FGR) in 111 counties (regions) of Shanxi province have been investigated from 1981 through 1987. The result shows: 1) Shanxi is one of the nature FGR polls in China. 26 kinds of wild, semiwild and cultivated deciduous fruit plant have been found including 51 genera, 177 species and 18 varieties, with a total varieties of 1368. 2) The FGR bands could be divided into 6 regions based on geographic feature and ecologic distribution in Shanxi province. a) Jinnan (south of Shanxi) climate region; b) Jindongnan (south east) climate region; c) Jinzhong (centre) basin climate region; d) Jinzhong bei (centre-north) mountain climate region; e) Jinxi (west) hillland climate region; f) Jinbei (north) climate region. Meanwhile, the main frit species of each region have been listed. 3) Several local varieties and material with some positive characteristics have been found, which are valuable or rare varieties with strong resistance or high nutrient. All those could be used for improvement of fruit breeding or biotechnological engineering. The nature FGR, however, have not yet been comprehended completely; Neither have some positive characteristics been well recognised. Therefore, fruther study would be necessary. | |
