Abstract:
Loquat (Eriobotrya japonica Lindl.) is one of the native fruits originally in China, yielding approximately 70% of the world's.
Loquat has been cultivated for a very long history since its being climatized, now, it is wide-spread with a plenty of germplasm resources.
An investigation has been carried out for a systematic survey on the germplasm resources by the nationwide coordinated research group for loquat since 1980s, from which origins, distribution and the pattern of the germplasm resources of loquat are known in the country by the large and a number of elite trees or special germplasm resources are preserved.
These offer a and substantial basis for variety improvement in loquat.
