ISHS Acta Horticulturae 403: International Symposium on Cultivar Improvement of Horticultural Crops. Part 2: Fruit Crops

A SURVEY ON COLD RESISTANCE OF PEAR RESOURCES AND TRANSFER OF COLD RESISTANCE AND OTHER SUPERIOR PROPERTIES IN NANGUO PEAR TO ITS F1 HYBRIDIZED DESCENDANTS (P. USSURIENSIS MAXIM)

Author:   L. zhiying
Keywords:   variety source garden, cold resistance
Abstract:
This article presents an investigation into the cold resistance of numerous varieties in our pear variety source with their different cold resistant competence and nine superior ones were selected. They are: 72-3-29, 72-3-6 (all with parental combination of Apple pear x Dangshan Suli pear) and 72-9-33 (Suli pear x zhuzui pear); Serkov; Pingtian pear (from Apple x European pear); and Dali, a variety for food processing approriate to be cultured in cold regions. Furthermore, statistical work was carried out to observe the acquisition of cold resistance in the hybridized progeny of Nanguo pear to transfer superior genetic properties. The F1 hybridized descendants, in particular, posses both high cold resistance and excellent fruit quality.
