ISHS Acta Horticulturae 402: International Symposium on Cultivar Improvement of Horticultural Crops. Part 1: Vegetable Crops

BREEDING AND UTILIZATION OF NEW PROCESSING TOMATO MATERIALS WITH TM2nv GENE

Authors:   Z. Yongjian, X. Hejin
Keywords:   TMV/Tm2nv, processing tomato, heterotic vigor
Abstract:
Manapal was a non-processing tomato cultivar with Tm2nv gene, yellow seedling and resistance to TMV. It was selected to cross with RedAgate 140, developed by the authors, and "Macelo", introduced from foreign country. From the segregated progenies, three stablely inherited processing tomato lines had Tm2nv gene and yellow seedling gene. Crossing with these lines anumber of combinations were obtained. "8746xRed Agate 140" and "9076xRed Agate 140" were proved, in the variety test, to be highly productive and resistant to diseases and the physico-chemical component of them were all suitable for processing. In the experiment, no reciprocal effect of heterosis was observed. Since 1990, seed production has been conducted in small scale.

Local test and production experiment were carried out in the processing tomato bases from 1991 to 1992.
