STUDY ON GEETIC STABILITY OF AMORPHOPHALLUS RIVIERI TISSUE CULTURE PROGENIES

Authors:   H. Danfeng, W. Aizhong, L. Peiying
Abstract:
Amorphophallus rivieri progenies from tissue culture had relatively low chromosome ploidy variation compared with other vegetables. The karyotype of A. rivieri are stable whether in tissue culture or planting in fields. The plantets from different times subculture had the same biological characters when planted in fields.

Plant tissue culture technique could be used in Amorphophallus rivieri biological engineering breeding and new variety popularrization if the variation of biological properties of plantlets were relatively low and the chromosome numbers and structures of plantets were stable. The karyotype variation, chromosome number and structure variation of A. rivieri plantets and their biological characters when planted in fields were investigated in this paper for the purpose of comprehensive evaluation of genetic stability of A. rivieri progenies from tissue culture.
