Abstract:
Two new tetraploid Chinese cabbages "Cui-Bao" and "Cui-Lu" were obtainedby recoprocal crosses of "Shuixianhua"(4x)X"Hou36-Gao"(2x) and "BP058"(2x) X "Shuxianhua"(4x) respectively. The hybrids produced only few seeds at first. The amount of seeds of the hybrids was almost similar to that of the diploid after many years of pedigree selection. The main characteristics of the hybrids are highly resistant to diseases, good quality, high yield and good for commercial production.

In cytological studies, we for the first time discovered the "BP058" diploid produced unreduced 2n gametes during mitosis. So we concluded that the combination of the 2n gamete of the "BP058" and the reduced 2x gamete of the "Shuixianhua" formed the new tetraploid Chinese cabbage.
