Abstract:
Peroxidase isozyme of the functional leaves of 28 cultivars of ginger at rhizome growing stage was assayed with polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, and fuzzy clustering analysis was used for numerical biochemotaxonomy of ginger.
It was found that there were 13 positive bands of peroxidase isozyme of ginger cultivars in Fujian Province; four of them, Rf value being 0.24, 0.40, 0.55 and 0.79, were basic bands; The cultivars were divided into 3 types, i. e. da-fei-jiang, huang-jiang and zhu-zi-jiang if the membership degree ( ) among the zymograms of peroxidase isozyme was 0.80, Zhu-zi-jiang, its rhizome like bamboo, as compared with others, was originally evolved.
It indicated that south regions in Fujian may be considered as genetic diversity of ginger.
Results showed that different cultivars of ginger were different in zonal number, active intensity and pattern of peroxidase isozyme, and which had relations with rhizome size, the intensity of growth, resistance to ginger blast (Pseudomonas solanacearum Smith). The analysis of peroxidase isozyme may be used as one of technical index for selecting mutation.
