Authors:   T. Suying, H. Xiuqiang, L. Jiwei, L. Wenge
Keywords:   Watermelon, Tetraploid, colchicine, Variation, Fequency
Abstract:
This paper concerns to raise the frequency of inducing six diploid varieties of watermalon into tetraploid with colchicine. The experiment results show: The best effect was ASP (To apply the lanotin paste mixed with colchicine onto the growth tips of seedings peeled leaflets). Its variant frequncy was 61%, and the treatment efficiency was 29.4%; DSP (the growth tips of seedings peeled leaflets were dropped with colchicine) were 52% and 30.4% respectively; The variant frequency and treated eficiency of SEB (the embryonic buds were soaked in colchicine solution) were 39.1% nand 23.7% respectively. hese treatment methods were much better than and can replace conventional methods by treating the growth tips which were covered with leaflets and by immersing the seeds.
