Abstract:
In present papper. Agrobacterium tumefaciens containing CMV satellite RNA cDNA was used to transfer tomato and pepper plants.
The transformation explants were cotyledon segments of tomato and cotyledonary petioles of pepper, Transgenic 81–3 tomato and 89–1 pepper plants have been obtained and inoculated by severe mosaic strain of CMV without sat-RNA. PAGE and Northern blot analysis were used to demonstrate the expression of CMV sat-RNA gene in transgenic plants.
Compared with nontransgenic plants, most transgenic plants showed about 10 days' delay in CMV symptoms, lower disease index and slow CMV development.
