Abstract:
The experiment was carried out for storage pollen of some cruciferous vegetables in greenhouse in 1984–1990. The results showed that pollen longevity of heading Chinese cabbage, non-heading Chinese cabbage, flowering Chinese cabbage and radish could still maintain for a longer time at room temperature 18–20°C and RH 40–45%. The seed set index was higher than the control when the pollen stored for 5–9 days, 11–13 days, the stored pollen still kept the viability of about 50% compared with fresh pollen; the viability of stored pollen basically lost after storage for 19–21 days.
The pollen of heading Chinese cabbage, cabbage, radish and purple cai-tai stored in a refrigerator at - 20°C and under dry condition for 2–6 years without significant reduction in viability by examination with living body determine and in vitro culture.
After storage for a medium-long term, no aging of the pollen had been observed, and the vigour of the four vegetables' seeds which were made by pollination with the pollen stored for 2–6 years did not decrease.
