Abstract:
Cooperation amongst agricultural producers is seen to be increasingly important.
In the small rhubarb-forcing industry of West Yorkshire, a cooperative was set up in 1968. The paper describes an investigation of the possibility of acquiring centralised grading and packing facilities.
The conditions which must be met to make this a profitable exercise, are discussed, as well as an alternative proposal for the future development of the cooperative which would not require a large capital investment.
