Abstract:
The problem of minimum size of holding is discussed, and is defined as that production-capacity, which will enable two workers to achieve an income equal to that in industry, as well as generating the necessary capital for expansion.
On the premise that in the long run any holding without an income comparable to that in trade and industry will withdraw from being a full-time holding, the number of holdings withdrawing in the cultivable area of the "Vier and Marschlande" region near Hamburg was established by means of a survey.
In addition, for individual, closely defined groups of holdings the effectiveness of a regression analysis was established.
Prolongation of the results was effected among several alternatives for economic development and for agro-political promotion.
